We read in another piece that students expect to have authority and if thre isn't any then that is when they fall extremely behind. It is kind of like what we all did the other day in class. We did the worksheet because Dr. Bogad has the authority in the classroom even though we all are free to speak our mind whenever.Marisa Jandreauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13659788950674042986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-143280827010344631.post-38894110780300082462011-04-12T09:13:45.154-07:002011-04-12T09:13:45.154-07:00I was basically going to say the same thing you di...I was basically going to say the same thing you did Mary! I was going to say that yes while clear direction is useful but then there is no mutual respect in the classroom. ONLY the teacher has a voice and opinion and the students should just listen, never question.Alycia Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09231619010911678153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-143280827010344631.post-81711381139395345212011-04-11T07:29:10.930-07:002011-04-11T07:29:10.930-07:00I think it's interesting how you connected Fin...I think it's interesting how you connected Finn to Delpit. I think Finn is looking back on what he did with the students and regretting the way he handled them. Delpit would have said that being clear and explicit is the way to go, but Finn argues that no opening for discussion is what handicaps these students so much. They are never given any experiance debating, sharing their own opinons, or solving problems with creativity. The clash of the educational theorists!Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16006593876379737286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-143280827010344631.post-82340321073944882552011-04-11T06:58:56.951-07:002011-04-11T06:58:56.951-07:00I like the connections you made. You made it very clear how they were the same and how Delpit would agree with what Finn is doing with his students.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
